The Islip Public Schools Office of Fine and Performing Arts and Islip High School are proud to announce the selection of 4 students for State-level honors in Music. The student musicians were selected for All-State based upon their performance at last year’s NY State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo Festival. The students will prepare for the festival with Dr. Rich Harris, Jr. and Steve Campanella, music teachers at Islip High School.

The New York All-State bands, choruses, orchestras and jazz ensembles are honors groups comprised of the top students from school music departments across the state. The 8 groups are directed by renowned guest conductors and perform on one of three concerts in the Eastman Theater during the annual NYSSMA Winter Conference on December 6th and 7th.

Participating students from Islip High School:

  • All-State Mixed Choir- Nick Fanizzi, Bass and Larry Saperstein, Tenor
  • All-State Symphonic Band- Ethan Fields, French Horn and Kristen Warnowoski, Trumpet

In addition to being selected for Symphonic Band, Ethan Fields was selected for Mixed Choir. Both he and Larry Saperstein were Alternates for Jazz Choir.
